This free service allows merchants to send text and photos to specific customers that have either checked into their business several times or “liked” them on Foursquare. The updates conveniently show up to customers when they’re in the same city as the business that is offering the special. These updates will also appear in search results when a consumer searches for a place on their mobile app or on the Web.
Already brands like Outback Steakhouse, H&M, Togo’s Sandwiches and Wolfgang Puck have plans to use this new feature, with many soon to follow.
Merchants can easily create and manage updates from the merchant dashboard, which was recently redesigned to allow business owners to view data on individual businesses or group of locations. This new redesign also lets Foursquare users explore what’s around them, compared to the former model than was more reliant on search. Users can now discover the things around them, just by logging in on their mobile phones.
