As far as domain names go, I always try to get an "exact match" domain name, but if that doesn't work (in any ".tld" extension), I'll add numbers to the domain, hyphens, or something as close as possible for the main search term that I'm trying to rank for!

I like the tips about properly choosing a domain name!

Sincerely,

Thomas Anderson

Only time will tell, but I think .co and .cm sites will fare just as well as .coms with smart SEO and PPC campaigns.

The boost from these redirections may be marginal, but every little bit can help. Plus, consider that domain names are, at least typically, inexpensive. Most domain names cost less than $10 per year to retain, and setting up an SEO-friendly 301 redirect is a fairly simple operation.

I sort of wish I had read this post before purchasing the names for a few of my online assets. Definitely could have benefited from your advice. Do you find the last tip, for redirection to be worthwhile in all cases? Is there really that much traffic on some of these mispellings or less common extension?
